Water Vole

Our water vole is fully protected under schedule 5 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (as amended). In addition to this, they are a species of principal importance under the Natural Environment and Rural Communities (NERC) Act 2006, making their conservation a legal duty to local authorities and other public bodies. As a result, water vole surveys may sometimes be required.
