Preliminary Ecological Appraisal

At Elite Ecology, our Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) services are designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the ecological value of your site. Whether you're embarking on a new development or planning a change to an existing property, our expert assessments ensure that you make informed decisions that respect and enhance the natural environment.

A Preliminary Ecological Appraisal (PEA) is a crucial first step in the ecological assessment process. It involves a detailed evaluation of the existing vegetation, habitats, and potential ecological impacts of a site. Conducted in accordance with guidelines from the Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC), our PEA services identify key ecological features and assess the site’s potential to support protected species.

Our vegetation surveys come at highly competitive prices and are completed to a high standard. They are the most common method to assess and map large areas of habitats. These are used for many developments to assess the potential impacts to habitats and species that could be using the site.

Our vegetation surveys include:

  • Phase 1 and Extended Phase 1 Habitat Surveys

  • Preliminary Ecological Appraisals

  • Hedgerow Surveys

  • River corridor and habitat surveys

  • Lake surveys

Should any features be identified to contain the potential to support protected species by our experienced surveyors, then the appropriate protected species presence/absence surveys will be necessary to outline the impact of the proposed works on the land.
